In 2013, Felix Galang & Stephanie Estrella of GK SMART Village in Baseco, Tondo, Manila joined the GKONOMICS Performing Arts Program and became folk dancers and cast members in Mabuhay Restop’s Manila Vanilla dinner show directed by Nestor U. Torre and music by Ryan Cayabyab. Back then Felix served as Child & Youth Development (CYD) Coordinator in the community while Steph was a shy introvert who rarely ventured out of home and school and they never imagined they will be able to go college.
In May 2014, Felix and Steph applied to the GKONOMICS Scholarship Program, and ended up being the pioneer batch of a successful program with over 50 scholars to date.
“Someday I want my own company,” said Felix in his scholarship application in 2014 thinking he wanted to major in Marketing.
“Nais ko maiahon sa kahirapan ang pamilya ko (I want to lift my family from poverty),” said Steph in her application thinking she will take up Financial Management.
Our GKONOMICS scholars, whether still in school or have graduated, now all share a common trait: PURPOSE.
They are the foundation for today's KLIK Mobile Education (KLIKme). Our dream is to replicate what we have done with our GKON Scholars to help millions more through KLIKme.
