Students from all levels (Grade 1 though College) will be enriched by this one-of-a-kind patriotic educational tour experience in Rizal Park.
Countryside development is key to nation-building. Students from all levels (Grade 1 though College) will be enriched by this one-of-a-kind patriotic educational farm tour experience at the GKONOMICS-RHI Farmville in Lipa, Batangas.
From 2011-2016, GKONOMICS conducted competitions called "Be the Next GKONOMIST" among college students in partnership with the Inter-Management Alliance (IMA) involving the management students of Ateneo de Manila University, De La Salle University – Manila, and University of the Philippines – Diliman.
The competition challenged the youth (ages 18-30) to come up with an innovative profitable business that will (1) utilize and highlight our Philippine resources, (2) engage Gawad Kalinga communities, and (3) produce a recognizable Filipino brand. These efforts planted seeds of social entrepreneurship and even led to a few social enterprises that are now flourishing.
GKONOMICS is open to working with youth groups who want to know more about social entrepreneurship.
GKONOMICS works with partners and volunteers who organize events that promote social entrepreneruship.
An example is “Paint-Share-Care,” an annual children's charity art auction which is spearheaded by GKONOMICS advocate, Anna Roman Katigbak. It is an initiative of the Saturday Group of Artists, Gawad Kalinga, and GKonomics.
If you want to help spread social entrepreneurship, please contact us and we will work with you!
Kiddie Paskuhan is an initiative of GKONOMICS in 2013 through one of its social enterprises, Mabuhay Restop, Inspired by alternative Christmas celebrations with poor communities, Kiddie Paskuhan brings Christmas cheer to disadvantaged kids and facilitates meaningful interactions between rich & poor.
Creative Maneuverings Lead to Delightful Treats
The resourcefulness and creativity of our team (Gkonomics, Mabuhay Restop, and GK) have led to some one-of-a-kind delightful treats for the kids.
Aside from the usual party treats, kids attending our Kiddie Paskuhan events in the last 7 years have been entertained by foreign dance groups from Russia, Korea, Bulgaria, Estonia, Argentina, Costa Rica, Guam, Serbia, Italy, Mexico, Poland, and Indonesia which provide many interesting cultural interactions.
They have also participated in art and science workshops and exhibits, enjoyed COMET e-jeep tours around Rizal Park, and some enjoyed unique Christmas story-telling by Tita Beauty and theater professionals.
The idea behind Kiddie Paskuhan is for disadvantaged children to be brought to Rizal Park and enjoy a fun Christmas party with delightful treats the children do not usually enjoy, lovingly prepared for them by staff, sponsors, and volunteers who are given the opportunity to spread Christmas cheer.
COVID Kiddie Paskuhan 2020
In 2020, COVID forced us to cancel the usual Kiddie Paskuhan parties as we know them. Kiddie Paskuhan 2020 took on a longer term goal of helping provide millions of youth who drop out of school obtain a high school diploma and become productive citizens. KP 2020 contributions went towards the .GKONOMICS development fund for the KLIK Mobile Education mobile app which will help out-of-school youths and adults meet the requirements of the Department of Education for high school diploma equivalency.
We also partnered with the National Anti-Poverty Commission (NAPC) this year to provide Xmas chicken rice meals and loot bags to some 300 homeless children in Ermita, Rajah Sulayman, Paco, and Manila North Cemetery, a big area covering Manila, QC and Caloocan.
As we continue our work in GKONOMICS in the years to come, we strive to bring Christmas cheer year round to the millions of impoverished Filipinos by breaking the cycle of poverty through education and social entrepreneurship.
Thank you very much to all our generous partners and sponsors for KP 2020!
In late March 2020 at the onset of the COVID crisis, GKONOMICS partnered with like-minded groups to help provide urgent solutions to the looming crisis in the Philippines.
The Hope Kalinga Kontra Korona (Hope KKK) QC project is a joint private sector effort initiated by GKONOMICS, St. Theresa's College QC (STC) Batch 85/82,, and Rotary District 3780 to assist the Quezon City local government in its response to address the challenges brought about by the Corona-19 virus pandemic.
A COVID quarantine facility with 150 beds was set up by Hope KKK with partners at the Kor-Phil Building of the QC University in Novaliches which operated from April through October 2020. It helped decongest the QC hospitals and provided a center for COVID persons under monitoring (PUMs), persons of interest (PUIs), and eventually COVID positive female patients in QC. Hope KKK also supported the frontliners at the facility and provided them with meals on a regular basis.
After the Kor-Phil Hope facility was closed, HOPE KKK then supported disaster relief operations and feeding programs in Isabela, Cagayan, DIngalan, Bicol, Tacloban, and Payatas, Hope KKK is now looking to support COVID vaccination efforts..
